Curriculum Vitae Jannerson Girsang


Born on January, 14 Januari 1961 at Nagasaribu Village, Simalungun District, North Sumatra, Indonesia. 

Four Children: oldest (working on National Television, 28 married with a grand son), second (lawyer at noticed company office in Jakarta, married), third, 22 (technicians at Steam Power Plant Project in North Sumatra), fourth (student of President University in Jakarta). 

Graduated from Bogor Agriculture University (1985)

From 1985-2001. Worked at various offices.   I only mention my experiences, related to writing  and training journalistic for reporters and Christian Youth. 

Writing Experiences

1990-1992. Reporter for Jakarta-based economic magazine PROSPEK. 

2005. Information Officer for Action by Churches Together (ACT International).  I write weekly field report for ACT International  Website. The reports were also posted at Web Relief, Reuter and www.ytbindonesia.org. 

I have written more than ten biographies of North Sumatra church leaders, the governor of North Sumatra, and others.  Followings are biographies and autobiographies  I have written since 2002.

Since 2007, I have been free lance writer at main local daily in Medan such  Analisa, Medan Bisnis, Sinar Indonesia Baru, Jurnal Medan (closed 2012). I have published more than 200 articles in the last five years, including pluralism and religion issues.   

Trainer for Writing Experiences

I gave journalistic training for North Sumatra Christian Youth, reporters  of Sinar Indonesia Baru Batak oriented daily (2011),  reporters of a remote area mediaonline of Nias Island, North Sumatra province, Indonesia (www.nias-bangkit.com).

Training Experiences in Journalistic

I have attended  some cources in writing and jusnalistic training i.e: Prosepek Magazine Jurnalistic Training, Jakarta (1992), Journalistic Training at University of Indonesia, Jakarta (2004), Information Management Training (ACT International, 2004). I obtained most of writing knowledge from Books and autodidact.

Award

I was awarded as a biographer and book contributor to library by the Governor of North Sumatra (2007). 

Others

I also one of jury at annual North Sumatran story telling at North Sumatra Library Office.   
Now, I am the head a congregation (voorhanger)  of Simalingkar GKPS church in Medan, with  175 families (approximately 700  people) members in Medan, North Sumatra capital city. Previously, I was a Grand Synod member of my church, Simalungun Christian Protestant Church, GKPS—with a total members of more than 200 people in more than 20 provinces of 33 provinces in Indonesia).  

Concerned.

I am concerned of the lack of ability and will of church youth and others to write. Informally, I taught writing and jurnalistic to youths. I also encourage youth to write at local media through Facebook.  I would like to have more knowledge in motivating people to write.
